Looking for articles discussing the pros & cons of having a domestic spy agency in the United States (similar to MI5). Any citations or suggestions would be appreciated.

Since 911 the CIA did expand its domestic clandestine operations as a response to the British MI5. These were directed from the National Resources Division. But if you have followed the news lately, you'd have learned that CIA has been under assault from all sides and many of its responsibilities have been taken over by the FBI and the Defense Department. Today we have an even newer player: the Department of Homeland Security, which has taken over much of clandestine operations within the domestic U.S., leaving CIA with even less to do.
